For many years Finncare has been able to offer practical training places for international students who are seeking to experience a different learning environment, practice their English skills and learn about aged care in Australia and Australian culture in general.

Finncare welcomes students for placement from Universities of Applied Sciences and polytechnical and vocational colleges all over Finland.  Places are offered for nursing, physiotherapy, social sciences and catering students.  Students’ practical training takes place at Finncare’s aged care facility in Thornlands, southeast of Brisbane.

Applications are received throughout the year and normally places are allocated well in advance, sometimes places get booked 12 months ahead.  Students’ training periods vary from 5 weeks to 3 months depending on their study program.

As well as the training placement Finncare also offers accommodation for students in a modern, high-set brick home on site.  Accommodation consists of three twin share bedrooms for which students pay a weekly rent.   Included in the rent are all meals in our dining room, linen, towels and weekly cleaning of the common areas of the student house. Student are free to use our gym and sauna facilities.

All applications for placements should be sent to the Student Coordinator at
