Tervetuloa – Welcome to Finncare

Finncare is the nation’s only aged care provider for the Australian Finnish community and is based in the Queensland bayside suburb of Thornlands.
With a strong Finnish heritage, our international community can give you the care you need and the lifestyle you want.

ABOUT FINNCARE

Finncare operates three service arms: Finlandia Village (Residential Aged Care), Finlandia Villas (Retirement Living) and Finncare (Home and Community Care).

These three divisions provide a range of support services and care options for older people both from the Australian Finnish and Scandinavian communities and the wider Australian community.

COVID-19 – Queensland Health Mandate

As you are likely aware, the COVID-19 situation across Australia is changing quickly, as are individual state and territory government guidelines and restrictions. The top priority for the Board and Management of Finncare is the ongoing safety of our residents, clients, and staff.

The Queensland Government has issued a public health mandate which will apply from Friday 17 December 2021. Please note that public health mandates are
subject to change. Restrictions will be reviewed in accordance with any updated advice from the Queensland Government.

Restrictions for unvaccinated people

From Friday 17 December 2021, people will be required to show proof of their COVID-19 vaccination status when they check into many Queensland locations and businesses that will be restricted to fully vaccinated customers and visitors. Unvaccinated people will not be able to:

  • Visit vulnerable settings, including residential aged care, hospitals, prisons, and disability care accommodation. There will be exceptions for medical treatment, end-of-life visits, childbirth, or emergencies.
  • Attend hospitality venues such as hotels, pubs, clubs, taverns, bars, restaurants, or cafes.

Finncare operations

From 17 December, all visitors to both Finncare and the Poro Café must be fully vaccinated and must show proof of vaccination status at the Administration Office and/or the Poro Café before access. Staff at residential aged care Administration Office will also check your temperature and require you to use the provided hand sanitiser before access. You will be required to wear a surgical mask during your visit to residential aged care. After hours access will not be accommodated unless there are extenuating circumstances. Please note that the only point of entry and exit for residential aged care is to be the Administration Office. Please do not enter the premises from any other access points.

Welcome to Finncare

Finncare

In 2010 Finncare embarked on plans to redevelop their facilities at Thornlands in Qld. These plans include new buildings and facilities but also developing the base of information we provide to the community at large and particularly the various Finnish groups. Part of this drive is expansion of our on-line presence. We welcome you to explore our new website and discover who we are and how we can help you and your family now and into the future.
