Providing exceptional care in a welcoming environment

Finncare is nestled in the South East Queensland bayside suburb of Thornlands. The site is located approximately 30 km south-east of the Brisbane GPO, and is between the two business centres of Cleveland and Victoria Point. We have three wings: Pine, Spruce and Birch.

Owned by Finncare Incorporated, we are a community organisation dedicated to providing the best in contemporary aged care. In our aged care facility, we are able to accommodate 61 residents. This includes 2 spots for respite (short-term accommodation) and 15 spots in our dementia specific memory support unit (Birch). The quiet living spaces, along with landscaping that features expansive gardens and walkways, invites residents to enjoy a warm and homey atmosphere.

We are dedicated to celebrating and supporting each resident as an individual. Our registered nurses and care staff, along with allied health clinicians (physiotherapy, occupational therapy, podiatry, dietician and speech pathologist) provide services 24/7 to enhance our resident’s well-being.

Experienced specialists will develop a specialised programme for our residents to use our rehabilitation style, low impact FinnGym equipment. Finncare also has a dynamic and personalised activity programme that caters for all resident lifestyle choices. These include daily Finnish news direct from Finland, Lutheran and Pentecostal church services, traditional Finnish games like Mölkky, visiting guests and performers, local outings, intergenerational afternoons with local school students, craft activities, trivia and bingo programmes.

We boast excellent facilities including a well-appointed hairdressing salon, library, function rooms, onsite laundry services and an onsite café. We also have a communal Finnish style sauna exclusively for resident use.

We understand that food is central to the Finnish lifestyle. Staff in our onsite commercial kitchen prepare well-balanced, fresh and tasty Finnish and Australian home-style food for each meal.

All services provided aim ultimately to ensure that each resident will ‘live well’.
