Finncare is an award winning residential aged care facility nestled in the South East Queensland suburb of Thornlands near the foreshores of Moreton Bay. The site is located approximately 30km south-east of the Brisbane GPO and is between the two business centres of Cleveland and Victoria Point.

Owned by Finncare Inc, we are a Finnish community dedicated to providing the best in contemporary aged care. We offer 60 permanent ageing-in-place and one respite (short term) placement accommodation. Fifteen beds are appointed in our dementia specific memory support unit. The quiet living spaces along with landscaping that features expansive gardens and walkways, invites residents to enjoy the open outdoor spaces.

Beyond the well-appointed surroundings, our residents are supported by our innovative relationship-focused approach to celebrating and supporting each resident. Our registered nurses, care staff along with allied health clinicians (physiotherapy, occupational therapy, podiatry, dietician and speech pathologist) provide a 24/7 range of care for our residents. Our services enhance our resident’s day to day well-being and deliver the highest standard of aged care services that also include dementia care, palliative care and respite care.

We are proud to deliver a ‘Wellness Care’ philosophy where experienced specialists develop a specialised programme for our residents and community visitors to use our rehabilitation style low impact Finngym equipment and hydrotherapy programme. Finncare has a dynamic and personalised activity programme that caters for all resident lifestyle choices. These include daily Finnish news direct from Finland, Lutheran and Pentecostal church services, Finnish traditional games i.e. Mölkky, visiting guests who perform music concerts, local outings, intergenerational afternoons with local school students, craft activities, Finn trivia and bingo programmes. We also host ladies only high teas and men’s activity afternoon programmes.

We boast excellent facilities including a well-appointed hairdressing salon, library, function rooms, onsite laundry services and the Finnish boutique Poro Café and a communal Finnish style sauna exclusively for resident use. With food being central to the Finnish lifestyle, Chefs in our onsite commercial kitchen prepare well-balanced, fresh and tasty Finnish and Australian home-style food for each meal and a variety of Finnish/Scandinavian baked treats every day.

All services provided aim ultimately to ensure that each resident will ‘live well’.

How much does it cost to reside at Finncare?

Finncare is a fully accredited not-for-profit organisation which receives subsidy funding from the Australian Federal Government. Care fees are in charged in accordance with regulations determined by the Australian Government which subsidises services for eligible aged care residents and home care clients.

Residential Aged Care

All new entrants into residential aged care can be asked to pay a Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD). The RAD can be paid as a lump sum amount or as an equivalent Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP). It can also be paid as a combination of part lump sum and part daily accommodation payment.
